Websites aren't the way they are because JavaScript frameworks exist or because these frameworks are popular. These frameworks exist to solve common problems and provide common features.
The web sucks because of the ubiquity of the advertising based funding model.
It's trivial to build a simple website with any of these frameworks that will be blazing fast. They don't become slow and bloated until you start adding tracking scripts and advertisements and whatever crazy UI bloat the site owners demand.
JavaScript didn't ruin the web, so-called market forces did.
- chad1n 2y agoI opened your website and found it downloads 1.8mb of js files. It looks like it's too large for a website that could as well just be a static site made with hugo.
