Ontario town votes to become a willing host for a nuclear waste repository
- ggm 2y agoOut of the 640 residents who voted, 495 or 77 per cent voted in favour. The one useful thing the article could have added but didn't, is the revenue implications for the community. Its a $26b project but that won't be the ground-rent. It's one of 4 communities which has to accede, with the outcome down to two sites. There's the native american nation as well as the town council for each, hence 4 decisions to be made but I think this also means no site can proceed if it lacks BOTH sides, ie its 1 from 4 but really 1 from 2.
