- nyrikki 2y agoSo they rediscovered Stern-Brocot Trees in a less effective way. Dirichlet's theorem...Ford circles...etc
- spacephysics 2y agoLooks like string theory is doing more for math than connecting quantum and classical physics over the last 35 years
- itchyjunk 2y agoIf true, that's really great that it's contributing to math! I'd heard a lot of negative things about String theory in that it was a waste of time for everyone involved and resources used as well. Contribution to theoretical math is well worth it, in my opinion (I confess I might be biased).
- klyrs 2y ago> If true, that's really great that it's contributing to math! Spoiler: nobody needed a new formula for pi. Whether or not it's new is debatable
- jbaber 2y agoMaybe this one's not new, but I want to hear about any new ones. Like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bailey%E2%80%93Borwein%E2%80%93Plouffe_formula?wprov=sfla1 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bailey%E2%80%93Borwein%E2%80%9...

- superidiot1932 2y ago>A Quantum Leap in Mathematics A very small leap in mathematics then?
