I wanted to go habit tracing in a minimalist way, and ended up using checkboxes in Obsidian daily notes (and take them anyway, previously in Evernote) and plugins (there are a few, I use a combination of https://github.com/pyrochlore/obsidian-tracker https://github.com/pyrochlore/obsidian-tracker and https://github.com/hedonihilist/obsidian-habit-calendar https://github.com/hedonihilist/obsidian-habit-calendar).
