In cold climates many people still use gas heating because its cheaper, making electricity cheaper would be the only realistic way to increase heat-pump usage in winter.
- blitzar 2y agoPractically every house in the world has more one (or more) ... a refrigerator.
- robertlagrant 2y agoYep. And quite a few have air conditioning as well.
- tordrt 2y agoWe don't use gas much for heating in northern Europe. At least not in Scandinavia, Iceland and Finland (Maybe Denmark is a small exception). Norway is also Europe's biggest gas exporter. I don't think gas heating is noticeably cheaper than heat pumps, but smaller upfront costs.
- moogly 2y agoYeah; gas is big largely in Germany, and even moreso in the Netherlands since they historically had an enormous gas field in Groningen.
