> German police said the investigation was still ongoing and that, "At this stage, a technical defect is assumed to be the cause of the fire."
> Thomas Hör, CEO of Diehl Metal Applications, told Berlin broadcaster RBB last week that a fire insurance company had come to the same conclusion.
Everything else either speculation by "unnamed sources" or outright propaganda. If anyone had any interest in truth, they'd still be investigating the attacks on Nordstream, but no one wants to know - or else they wouldn't have complained about "unnamed sources" when Seymour Hersh told everyone who did it.
- braza 2y ago> "At this stage, a technical defect is assumed to be the cause of the fire." Certainly! Here's the revised text: One overlooked aspect of the infrastructure here in Berlin is the subpar implementation of regulations related to fire safety in the old/legacy buildings. In comparison with some places in America (US, South America), where fire extinguishers and fire combat apparatus are present in several places, including residential buildings, the engineering and architecture in Berlin do not consider these aspects. For instance, when I visited the Axel Springer building, I noticed that there were no fire extinguishers on the entire floor, and the evacuation exits did not have fire-resistant doors and push mechanisms. Additionally, some exit doors were locked or inactive.

- jasonvorhe 2y agoNo, that's not the point. You're the one who is derailing this discussion. Almost none of what you're saying is relevant in connection to this article. Is there proof that Russia was even involved? Maybe. But if it exists, it's currently classified and exclusive to Western intel agencies. Until there's a trustworthy source or leak of actual evidence, the claims of Russian involvement are nothing but conjecture that's in conflict with local police and insurance investigators. I'm not disputing that Russia killed people or might have interests in attacking infrastructure.
- snowpid 2y ago"You're the one who is derailing this discussion. Almost none of what you're saying is relevant in connection to this article." I mention clearly crimes of Russia in the past. Attacking a factory of major weapon supplier is suspiciously linked to Russia. This is just a broader picture. Also we don't have a crime case, we are in geo politics. Mentioning Hersh is mostly a sign for bad discussion. He is a bad journalist.
- nabla9 2y agoSeymour Hersh is 87 years old. He has not been reliable on anything for the last 20 years. When somebody whispers into his ear, he puts his name on it and says it came from anonymous source in the CIA. Nobody in the US government would use him as a channel for a leak anymore, because he is not considered to be reliable. He claimed that killing of Osama bin Laden 2011 was fabrication. Osama Bin Laden was actually held by Pakistani Intelligence service since 2006. His claims about Syria and chemical attacks have been disproved by independent sources. Nord Stream pipeline evidence points towards Ukraine, not towards the US as Hersh claims.
