My schools had bans on cell phones, music players, game machines ~20 years back. Teachers would confiscate any gadgets or toys students used in class time, maybe sending them to the office to be reclaimed at the end of the day. When did this stop being a thing?
- Minor49er 2y agoProbably when parents and teachers helped to spread their own online addictions to the younger generations out of convenience
- infotainment 2y agoYup—in almost any thread about this on HN you'll get someone complaining that taking away cellphones would make it absolutely impossible for that person to pick up junior after school. Their kid might have to do without a personal on-call chauffeur. Tragic.
