New Idaho library rules, adults only, must show ID
- karmakaze 2y agoI like how it links to old.reddit.com--that should filter by age of commenters.
- sandworm101 2y agoYup. Better that kids learn form the internet than from so many dangerous books. But have a care for the libraries. They are the ones that need to make sense out of the current debates. Excluding children is likely what they need to do to stay open.

- darksaints 2y agoLol, I've been to a library in Idaho, the only people inside were kids. I assume they were desperately trying to escape their parents.
- sickofparadox 2y agoLaw - https://legislature.idaho.gov/statutesrules/idstat/Title18/T18CH15/SECT18-1513/ https://legislature.idaho.gov/statutesrules/idstat/Title18/T... Definitions - https://legislature.idaho.gov/statutesrules/idstat/Title18/T18CH15/SECT18-1514/ https://legislature.idaho.gov/statutesrules/idstat/Title18/T... This looks like malicious compliance to make people angry. There are no restrictions on children entering a library, only on 'obscene' materials. Perfect fodder for the kind of person that fawns over ""banned"" books.
- kashunstva 2y agoI believe the comments on the linked Reddit post note the library at which the sign is posted has only around 1000 ft^2 of floor space and simply cannot partition it into adult-only and children’s sections. According to a library worker familiar with that instance, the intent was more practical than malicious.
- beej71 2y agoFrom the definition, I wouldn't take the chance as a librarian that none of the stacks show an image of human buttocks, or that someone might find something there to be obscene. Bet your job on it? No thanks.

- foogazi 2y agoIf providing books to kids is outlawed the only outlaws will provide books to kids
