A service that sends email alerts every time you receive a comment/reply on Hacker News: https://hackernewsalerts.com/ https://hackernewsalerts.com/ . Just finished it and wanted to test it on myself first for a while but hey, nothing like baptism by fire!
- caprock 2y agoGood stuff. The HN api is fun to build with. A couple minor bug reports: * On the view without email page, the button still says get alerts which was a little confusing * If my phone auto adds a capital letter for a username, it doesn't find the user. Maybe set the matching to be not case sensitive. Have fun, and keep building!
- mmarian 2y agoAppreciate the feedback! I'll update both asap. Funnily enough, I assumed the usernames are case-sensitive based on this https://github.com/HackerNews/API?tab=readme-ov-file#users https://github.com/HackerNews/API?tab=readme-ov-file#users so I didn't bother testing. I was wrong :)
