Apple's $50M butterfly keyboard lawsuit gets final approval
- mrtesthah 2y agoThanks, Jony Ive. https://www.businessinsider.com/jony-ives-thinness-obsession-apple-butterfly-keyboard-issues-2019-7 https://www.businessinsider.com/jony-ives-thinness-obsession...
- Rinzler89 2y agoJony Ive's obsession didn't come out of thin air, it came from Jobs, who even wanted to remove the SIM card slot on the first iPhone and it took a commission of people with data to convince him it's a bad idea back then.
- hnthr_w_y 2y agobut that's the thing, he was convinced and backed out. butterfly was known to be faulty, no one backed out.
- Rinzler89 2y agoBecause probably in the post-Jobs era there was nobody left at Apple with the balls to contradict Ive. It's not the first or the last company in the world where people are afraid to speak up against their allmighty deity who's worshiped as the industry GoaT, because as companies grow older, new people are more concerned about becoming yes-men to the old guard to keep their job, rather than challenging the status quo.
- b3ing 2y agoIt’s probably a class action lawsuit that will only pay you $50 if you know the laptop serial # and mac address of the network card on the laptop affected. Then Apple doesn’t have to pay as much as most people won’t have that info
- reaperman 2y agoUsually class action funds max out if like 5-10% of the class claim their benefit. If more people make claims, the total payout stays the same and just gets split between more people. So Apple will pay exactly the same amount regardless if 10% or 90% of the class make claims.
