It's somewhat common in ashkenazi jewish circles (much more common in the more ultra orthodox circles where everything is done via matchmaker), to have genetic profiles matched (ultra orthodox do it double blind, you don't even know your profile, you are given a number after being tested and matchmakers can submit both numbers and are just told if both are carriers for a tested genetic disease).
