I've had some Jekyll and Middleman sites around for ten or more years and it's fine. Now and then something breaks and needs fixing. The Ruby 2 to 3 transition involved breakage, but nothing too bad. Certainly beats having to change the header or the footer in a thousand pages, or headers getting out of sync!
