- qwelias 2y agoThey say remote, but there's a hard list of supported countries at the bottom of job application form that should be at the top.
- aleksandarbos 2y agoexactly! these are the countries you can work remotely from (according to their website): - United States - Australia - Canada - Czechia - Hungary - Iceland - Ireland - Poland - Slovakia - Spain - United Kingdom
- hack_only 2y agoI keep seeing these posts but when I apply, nobody ever responds and the same jobs seem to stay on forever.
- lemper 2y agoi guess they just want to maintain the illusion of growth bro? but i could be wrong tho.
- birthday 2y agoYes. They should be banned from posting on hackernews honestly. It's rediculous. PS check the other comments on this thread about this behavior from them.
- Tao3300 2y agoThey're still trying to find the last Perl dev for that backend role.
- stirredo 2y agoLook at their linkedin job postings. Only Apple and C++ engineer posts are open. No other posts open.
- LotToLearn 2y agoLooks super interesting!
- ermaknn 2y agoGot rejected with 13 level of experience in C++. What is the reason if you are still hiring?
- birthday 2y agoLet's all take a moment of silence for our fellow developer who fell for duck duck go's fake hiring posts. (ps check the other comments on this thread if U don't know what I'm talking about).
- jomsk1e 2y agoEvery month in the 'Who is hiring?' posts, DuckDuckGo consistently lists job openings. When you go to their hiring page it looks very interesting. You get paid on their "Test" projects. I am not sure if those "Test" projects are live actual requirements that they make applicants do, then they will eventually not hire. OR these job postings are just to maintain their visibility creating the impression of ongoing expansion without all positions necessarily being filled.
- bill_duckduckgo 2y agoThanks for your interest in our roles and the questions you’ve raised here. Here’s a quick answer: — Test projects: these are not live requirements that we get people to work on. We create these test projects as a way to assess people’s skills and how well they fit with what we need for the role. We like to pay people for these as we recognize that not everyone will be successful in the process, but we still want to compensate them for their time in some way. —ongoing job openings: we only post job openings for roles that we’re actually hiring for at the time. We often post a single job opening for a role where we’d like to hire several people. So they can sometimes stay open for quite some time! —LinkedIn openings vs our career page: we post every live role we have on our own careers page, but only some of them on LinkedIn, so there can often be a difference between the live roles on both sites.
- dcrow0 2y agono excuse for scam postings, stop fronting
- birthday 2y ago!! Honestly they should be banned from posting here. They have been hiring a Senior Windows app developer for 3 years straight. LMAO. Stop wasting everyone's time.
