100 euros seems a bit too much for me, especially that I'm not interested in Javascript, but I would love to get in touch with the hacker's community here in Paris. Does anyone know how or where can I get to know them? What are the upcoming conferences happening in the area? What are the active communities?

  LeWeb isn't really for hackers (just look at the price...) We do a Hacker News meetup called http://parishackers.org http://parishackers.org Next meetup should be on June 28th!

  That's not what I would consider to be a hackers community. Attendees are mostly business guys and the ticket costs more than €1000.

Sylvain and I (dotJS organizers) also organize Hacker News meetups in Paris => ParisHackers.org, that's a good start ;) Otherwise, check on http://bit.ly/LIoLrMCOPY http://bit.ly/LIoLrMCOPY and https://www.eventbrite.com/home/ https://www.eventbrite.com/home/ for other meetups (Realtime Communication, PHP, Java, Craftmanship, MongoDB, etc.)

I've read somewhere about Vim meet-ups at the Mozilla offices. I would really like to attend but I couldn't find any info.

100 Euros is cheap compare to other Paris tech conferences (who often cost more than 500 Euros)

I am too, sometimes I go to Gaîté Lyrique / Mains d'Oeuvre / La Cantine for art&code there is also a javascript mailing parisjs@googlegroups keep in touch if you want to meet&hack:)

100 euros is excellent value for this kind of event. That said, you can keep an eye on conferences and events in Paris by subscribing to the RSS or iCal feed of our Paris page on Lanyrd: http://lanyrd.com/places/paris/ http://lanyrd.com/places/paris/

  I did not mean to say that 100 euros is too expensive for the conference, but that I am not willing to pay this amount of money simply to get introduced to the hacker scene here in the city. Also, thanks for Lanyrd, it does seem to answer my needs, and good luck with your venture :)
