Immune response study explains why some people don't get Covid-19
> Using single-cell sequencing, researchers from the Wellcome Sanger Institute, University College London (UCL), Imperial College London, the Netherlands Cancer Institute and their collaborators, studied immune responses against SARS-CoV-2 infection in healthy adult volunteers, as part of the world's first COVID-19 human challenge study.

- tamimio 2y agoBoth links are dead. But I never had Covid19 myself, or at least, per my knowledge.
- NikkiA 2y ago> But I never had Covid19 myself, or at least, per my knowledge. Same, and I long suspected it was just that I had it, but never showed any symptoms. But when my (live-together) bf had a respiratory problem on the tail end of covid's main brunt, they tested him and stated that he had no signs of every having had it. I think some of us are just 'lucky' when it comes to this issue, as both me and my bf are immune compromised in a way that would make covid very serious should we catch it. (Or maybe it's just quantum suicide, and all the universes where one of us caught it, we both died from it ;)
- ralferoo 2y agoBoth links work for me in the UK. Not sure why the OP didn't choose one of them as the headline link though. EDIT: The medicalXpress one is a summary of the nature article (and links to it), that's more readable to lay people. Honestly, I didn't understand anything in the Nature article, but just about got the gist of the summary article.
- tamimio 2y agoInteresting, first link: >Sorry, the page you were looking for could not be found. The page might have been removed, had its name changed, or become temporarily unavailable. Second: >Page not found
- ralferoo 2y agoIf it was just one not working, I'd guess their CDN or geo-IP doesn't work. For two entirely different websites owned by different companies failing, I'd suspect it's more likely to be your DNS that's failing, or maybe your ISP forces a transparent proxy that's broken, etc.
- tamimio 2y agoI did try a different ISP, it was the same issue, unless it’s a canada-wide one.
- OutOfHere 2y agoIt must be your IP's geography. It doesn't seem like you have normal internet access. It would seem you have only highly-restricted ISP-approved access. Consider complaining to your ISP rather than here.
- eyelidlessness 2y agoThis is a really weird response to a comment posted… on the internet.

- j4k3z 2y agoThere's something about uppers that prevents a person from being vulnerable to viruses, I used to get sick like the flu once a year like clockwork when I lived in Florida, usually right when the cold season started. I haven't had so much as a bad cough or runny nose, let alone get sick, since I moved to Oregon like 8 years ago (context clues.. lol). So I obviously haven't had Covid either, and I even have a bad nailbiting habit.
- mathgeek 2y agoCan you elaborate on what “uppers” means in your context? Upper latitudes, altitudes, stimulants, something else?
- j4k3z 2y agoAmphetamines, cocaine, etc..
- bravetraveler 2y agoIn the context of Florida is this really a question? I don't mean "haha Florida man" necessarily, either, but it's largely sea level and firmly southern US
- mathgeek 2y agoYes, because of the difference in legality for many controlled substances between the two states mentioned. From the poster’s reply elsewhere, the context was focusing on Oregon. > On February 1, 2021, Oregon became the first state in the USA to decriminalize the possession of small quantities of all illicit drugs, following the passing of Oregon Ballot Measure 110 in November 2020.
- bravetraveler 2y agoI guess you put more stock on legality over actions than I do, I dunno. Crime is illegal yet it persists. "It" seemed fairly obvious regarding location/climate/timing. While you were right to ask, my assumption was also right. I don't mean to belabor this; it was discernible in context.
- nanomonkey 2y agoI finally succumbed to Covid19 this week, having never shown symptoms, nor testing positive prior. This includes while living in the same household with someone that came down with it from the holidays. Honestly I thought I was immune, but sometimes you're just on the long tail of things.
