Why do EVs need a lot of it? Our Kia Soul EV 2015 model doesn’t have any more software than its gasoline counterpart, maybe a couple extra menus related to showing EV info, that’s all. I doubt that the software for the inverter is any more complex than the ECU controlling an ICE. Our Ioniq 5 has a lot of software. Some of it enables huge benefits with EVs: like I can pre-heat or cool the car from the app. Love it. But it’s not necessary. While I love the Ioniq 5 I think the older Kia Soul EV strikes a nearly perfect balance between features and simplicity, and I think the market needs more EVs like that.
