Interesting you find Zurich to be more conservative than Munich since Munich itself is known to be the more conservative of well-known German cities. Anecdote wise I found the Swiss from Zurich more open and party-friendly (for lack of a better term) than Germans from Munich. Not sure whether to dish up the lack of nightclubs in Zurich to conservatism.

It's in quotes, because I was warned not to go there because it is the bad area. It's also why I went there - the not-bad area was not-good unless you live a secluded life already. Mind you, Hells Angels were in town, but that at least made the club I ended up at interesting. Would have been incredibly dull otherwise. In Munich, you can find a party atmosphere pretty much at any time, and you don't have to go to "the bad area" to find it.
