Grounding in community:positioning gov for a meaningful relationship with public
- squircle 2y agoWhat I want (and expect) to hear from government is that there will always be a human in the loop. Even moreso that leaders are not ideological parrots and functionaries of some fart-in-the-wind demiurge, nor cooercible by fear or driven by wealth or ideology. Life is not a fecking popularity contest. To put it in the context of mainstream America, a church/synogue/mosque is not the building but the congregation. These institutions are often beautiful, functional, and provide great meaning and purpose. Theres nothing wrong with meaning and purpose. Government for and by the people (which is a rallying call for all nations of people around the world--the operative notion here being that nationality is applied to our identity sine qua non) means the government should probably be learning in public. Being vulnerable is not being weak. The only thing I can think that would create distrust more is a lack of accountability. Say "you were wrong" more often. Practice pivoting, but perhaps not simply left to right, forward and back... Ideology, folks. All these isms. WTFism?
