Do the dollar amounts mentioned in the article include pre/post operation work? Or just the actual operation itself? If it is just the time in the operating theatre then 1.4k is not too shabby for a couple of hours work (i am guessing that it doesn't take, on average, a whole day for most hip replacements). But if the $ mentioned is to cover before and after consultations, prep work etc it seems a bit on the light side.
