Make time and budget to learn a manual trade that's always in demand. Plumbing, electrical work and bricklaying immediately come to mind. The reasons for this are (a) you won't always be able to keep your skill set in sync with the market, and with the speed of change you could find yourself stuck maintaining legacy systems. And (b), if you decide to emigrate, you might be surprised at how much manual trades are in demand compared to software development/IT.
