Growing your vocabulary is good. In the near term though it taints your speech and writing with superfluous hyperbole, which is regrettable. That said, I think we all go through that stage. The upside is that we come out the other end with a firmer grasp on how to use words to get our meaning across. A big vocabulary is a means. Not an end.
