Tampa did this and it's frustrating. In many places I must turn right, drive down to a middle u-turn lane, then turn. It does not seem safer to me.

- PaulHoule 2y agoFunny my son won tickets to a 38 Special + Foghat concert in the Elimra area so we drove Route 13 from Ithaca to Elmira which has 7 or so traffic circles on it. They must have consciously changed every light to a traffic circle on that stretch of road. Quite utopian and European if you ask me. It definitely puts an end to left turns, at least onto major roads, although that stretch of 13 has some houses and occasional bits of commerce.
- Molitor5901 2y agoI am not in favor of traffic circles. American drivers tend to mostly fall into two generalities: aggressively driving, and distracted pointing. They're not used to navigating those personalities in circles, and so we get a general breakdown of the flow. I'm not convinced circles are better but mathematically they apparently are, we just need better driving :)
