Ironic since meta is developing some of the best ai models you can use for inference on an edge device
- zitterbewegung 2y agoSo Apple is in a weird situation because they are in the few groups that have above 700 million active users [2] that can actually fall under this clause: Additional Commercial Terms. If, on the Meta Llama 3 version release date, the monthly active users of the products or services made available by or for Licensee, or Licensee’s affiliates, is greater than 700 million monthly active users in the preceding calendar month, you must request a license from Meta, which Meta may grant to you in its sole discretion, and you are not authorized to exercise any of the rights under this Agreement unless or until Meta otherwise expressly grants you such rights. So they have to reinvent the wheel and not use llama unless they negotiate with Meta and instead they just acquired AI companies to make local models. I don't see any Meta products that are close to OpenAI and they rather have the AI in house regardless.
