From what I can find there are no steady numbers. In 2023 there were 500 recorded deaths, but there's a suspicion that the numbers are higher (much as with this year). Famously in 2015 2000+ people died in a single crowd-crush event. It's a dangerous thing, but worry not, Muslims believe that to die on Hajj is to be martyred, and sent straight to paradise, which no doubt contributes somewhat to lax safety standards. sigh
