GitHub Trending RSS

- crazygringo 2y agoCan the submitter please explain what we're looking at? I have no idea what these RSS feeds are per-language per-time period. Since the page certainly doesn't explain. And the RSS titles are useless -- "GitHub All Languages Daily Trending", "Daily Trending of All Languages in GitHub". Daily trending whats? Repositories? As determined by what? Downloads? Issues? Comments? Clones? Commits? Stars?
- captn3m0 2y agoGitHub has trending repos published at https://github.com/trending https://github.com/trending Which are categorised by their main programming language. Since GitHub doesn’t publish RSS feeds, this is a third-party RSS feed for the same.
- captn3m0 2y agoI’ve been using https://github.com/vitalets/github-trending-repos https://github.com/vitalets/github-trending-repos, which converts each language list to an Issue on GitHub which you can subscribe to. And while GitHub doesn’t have RSS feeds for issues, there’s a bunch of ways to get that: https://github.com/orgs/community/discussions/7871 https://github.com/orgs/community/discussions/7871
- 8organicbits 2y agoGitHub issues for email notifications is pretty clever. I've been using Substack as a way for people to subscribe to my RSS feed via email. It's convenient but terrible nagware. I could use this as a starting place to pull my RSS feed into GitHub Issues, and let anyone with a GH account subscribe that way.
