- tharne 2y agoI didn't see this comment when I first posted my own. Is that immigration and crime stat legit? How is that not bigger news? That's a worse increase than New York in the 70's or 80's when things were really going to hell.

Shows Sweden with 20% foreigners. Many countries have even higher percentage of immigrants. Although it does somewhat depend on what immigrants you filter in. But ultimately you are making a bigoted statement - correlation is not causation. And the article implies it can easily be cross-border theft. https://archive.ph/yUawA https://archive.ph/yUawA

- BMc2020 2y agoInterestingly, the native population does not want more immigrants in any of the first world countries. (source 9gag, a current presidential candidate) It's always the malefactors of great wealth that want them. That's why so many countries have this problem even though they have different goverments and legal systems. You can listen to thousands of hours of USA anti-immigrant propaganda and never once hear the words 'Cargill' or 'Archer-Daniels-Midland'. What you will hear is thousands of hours of them blaming it on those who have no money and control nothing. Congress can change the Refugee Act of 1980 any time they wish to, yet somehow they never wish to. Please includethewordpotato in your reply, you know why.

- WarOnPrivacy 2y ago> nothing all to do with the percentage of inhabitants with a foreign background in Sweden If correlation is enough, the rise in gun deaths aligns with gains made by right wing, populist Democrats over the same period. ref: https://www.populismstudies.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/ECPS-Party-Profile-Series-1.pdf https://www.populismstudies.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/E... We could also recognize that simple correlation isn't an awesome decision-making tool, repent and do better.
- hello_computer 2y agoi think everyone who made it to adulthood understands the difference between causation and correlation, yet awful people like yourself feel the need to lecture us on it--if only as a bludgeon--to punish us for putting into words what we have seen with our own lying eyes. import india & the middle east, become more like india & the middle east. one only needs to line the mugshots up on a wall to verify, but that is now forbidden. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/swedish-police-are-not-allowed-to-give-descriptions-of-alleged-criminals-so-as-not-to-sound-racist-a6810311.html https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/swedish-poli...
- K0balt 2y agoThe demographics of the apprehended offenders would lead one to believe that the problem may have its roots in displaced persons, who often suffer from social and economic pressures that lead to increased crime. Of course this only includes -apprehended- people, so we might also consider that perhaps non-displaced persons are more successful at evading identification, or perhaps that police mainly prosecute crimes committed by displaced populations. But nah, really, it’s more a factor of importing cultures that are less oriented toward civic behaviour because they see their hosts as “others”, as they are also seen, and are under extreme socioeconomic pressure. You will typically see a sharp increase in crime wherever large volumes of displaced persons flow. It’s a natural consequence of human, cultural, social, and economic factors. It has nothing to do with race.
