Java String Templates Proposal Is "Withdrawn"
- mhw 2y agoI tracked down more explanation in this message on the mailing list: https://mail.openjdk.org/pipermail/amber-spec-observers/2024-April/004358.html https://mail.openjdk.org/pipermail/amber-spec-observers/2024... It sounds like they are intending to rethink the design and that it may return in a different form in the future, but won't be in JDK 23.

- exabrial 2y agoThank goodness. My big problem was it basically redefined what a ton of conventions actually meant. I do appreciate the efforts of the authors, but I just don't think the proposed syntax would be a good long term change for Java.
- theanonymousone 2y agoWell, I adopted String templating in one of my code bases. It seems it is stuck now in Java 22 :(
- exabrial 2y agoope! You could extract them to files and just use a regular templating library, there are plenty of options that are pretty high performance.
