Considering European modern history and how the EU white-washes all their tech legislation as "pro consumer rights" (it's protectionism¹ ² ³). One would think that the EU would be the last place on earth to introduce such obvious surveillance legislation.⁴ Similar proposals haven't got this close to passing in any other first world countries.
