For us (a small bootstrapped company), it hasn't been the best because we mostly hire juniors and train them. Juniors need more in person and collaborative experience at least in our case and hence it is tougher than usual. I know the cavalry will come after me saying "It's just you and not the juniors" but I strongly disagree and believe that if you are starting out in your career, you must work in person next to people. Yes there are exceptions of course but you need to be truly motivated and emotionally mature to handle working alone/remotely.
