Can anyone provide some insight as to why Django is so popular in Europe? I'm willing to accept that this site just isn't a good representation of the interest in the world, but it seems heavily favored there.
- brutasse 14y agoThe homepage actually only show the most recent signups. Since we announced the site at Djangocon Europe we got lots of signups from there. The homepage will need some improvement, I'll look at changing that to some sort of density map.
- randomdrake 14y agoFair enough. A choropleth map would be cool. Another question, if I may: how come it's not obvious how to update your profile photo? Maybe I missed something, but I looked in earnest to find the option and could not.
- brutasse 14y agoThe old Djangopeople hosted avatars but I've switched to gravatar. So just updating the gravatar associated to your account's email address should do it. I'll make that clearer on the site.
- bcostlow 14y agoThere is something odd going on with the default map. If I search for my name, it shows the map with a pin at my location, near Columbus, OH, USA. If I just start from the home page, no matter how much I zoom in, I don't show up. So whether or not the site users are a good representation of the interest in the world, the default map seems a poor representation of their users. Edit: Brutasse posted on the thread explaining this right as I posted.
- tommypalm 14y agoEurope is awake already and has had a chance to register?
- d0ugal 14y agoIt contains the original database, thus its everybody that registered over the last few years. I can't remember when it first appeared.
- utlanning 14y agoThis site doesn't provide any evidence that Django is popular in Europe, only that a lot of European Django devs have registered with the site.
- akoumjian 14y agoDjangoCon Europe is happening right now.
- randomdrake 14y agoAhh... that makes sense. Thanks :)
