Show HN: Mu – A Muslim focused superapp
Hey all
Tried posting this before I don't think I was really specific enough. Mu is a new Muslim app platform I'm working on. It's based on years of frustration with the app ecosystem and the feeling that so much of what's created is with addictive or bad tendencies. A lot of the internet is just not made for a simpler more holistic lifestyle. I've always been cautious not to push my religious choice on people and tried to genera-size my method of promoting this way of life. Now though I think its probably better to embrace it and cater to the audience that might be most interested. Mu is an attempt to create simpler smaller apps more inline with my daily habits and that which will stop us from using the internet for things that will not benefit us. I'm calling Mu, the building blocks for life. Some of it will be relevant to others like chat with AI or news feed but then there's also prayer times, the quran in English, etc. Being Muslim isn't exclusive, it's about a way of life more inline with what we're here for. And the only way I could think to rectify my own online habits was to create a place that forces me to do it.
Feedback welcome!
- teleforce 2y agoCongrats for your launching. Not really sure what specifically are you creating here because platform is such a generic and overloaded word. I have been recently travelling to several countries and personally I have found that for muslim it is difficult to find information on halal food especially if you are in country where muslim is minority. Surprisingly there many restaurant and cafe that are serving halal foods even in muslim minority country but the information on them are very limited especially if their national language are not English for examples India, France and China, where they have many halal food in the big cities but difficult to find one since they're not online or information is not available. Perhaps your app can provide something like Moovit but for halal and kosher food (since muslim can eat kosher food as well), that allows people to contribute their data. Next month France will host their Olympics event, and their halal restaurants and cafe are plenty, perhaps it will be good to test your app during the time.
- asim 2y agoThanks for the feedback and that's a great idea. Yes "platform" is too generic and I need to redefine that. I think there's a number of halal food apps but I've never used this so maybe it highlights for something more useful.
- akmalkun 2y agoMay Allah bless your efforts. However, as Teleforce mentioned, I'm a bit unclear about what you're trying to achieve here. What is your focus? A halal directory is a good start, but attracting people to a forum or chat space can be challenging unless you invest significant resources. I'm working on something similar (though not a super app) called Al-Kun. Good luck with your project! Let's connect if you think it would be beneficial :)
