- Rinzler89 2y agoSorry could we please edit the title to make it less confusing?

- mdhb 2y agoMost people can hold more than one thought in their head at the same time. The chat proposal can be bad and have zero impact whatsoever on the idea that they can and should have their own laws around anticompetitive behaviour.

- kazinator 2y agoThe hoopla about competition or lack thereof in online app stores is nothing but political distraction from the sinister shit. They are definitely connected in that way.

- mdhb 2y agoPolitely… they are not and you don’t know what you’re talking about and the word definitely has no place in that sentence. You’re just mad and upset with them at the moment but the point you are making is wrong.
- kazinator 2y agoIt's how regimes work. Every move they make is calculated and orchestrated, usually related to the others. EU cracking down on the Googles and Apples for this and that is just a show to say, "look, we are the good guys, looking out for the European consumer from being taken advantage of by these overseas corporations". It distracts from the ploys to erode privacy. Plus when fines are involved, it's a convenient cash grab also. When you read about such and such FAANG co. being fined so many billions, that's just the EU (or whatever other regime) making up nonsense to write themselves a checque. I'm not mad in the moment at all, but rather cool as a cucumber; this is my enduring world view.
- doublerabbit 2y ago> People who buy Apple devices are sheep who don't want competition. They want Apple to curate applications for them. The only Apple products I own is a iPhone and a €5 2007 MacBook which I refurbished from a flea-market for fun. Never had one, I would use it more but the coil-whine is annoying. I don't like Google devices, nor really support Google as a whole. So I'm stuck with an iPhone, my real preference would be nothing however do we live in that world anymore; lesser of two evils. Google curates applications too. My device is jail-broken which is why I do want a second store. Why should Apple be the only store? > because you're trying to spy on all online communication and track everyone. How is the EU trying to spy on all online communication different than the US trying to spy on all online communication? Any country anywhere wants to spy on online communication. It's not like this is new or the first attempt at such from the world.
- InTheArena 2y agoThe only way Margrethe Vestager won't have a issue is if Apple is a EU company. The problem is that they wrote crappy legislation, that anyone could drive a truck through. How dare you do what we say say, rather then what we want!
