California to welcome cannabis for sale and consumption at state fair
- aurareturn 2y agoI went from not caring about weed, to pro-weed when I got addicted to it, to strongly against weed normalization right now after I managed to finally quit. I hope societies can quickly realize that weed normalization can be very destructive to our youth. I'm lucky I got addicted at a later stage in my life, which allowed me to remember what life was like before my addiction. I shudder to think high school students or college students who get addicted. Not many will agree with me here. Many will say that weed isn't addictive for them. Some will inevitably accuse me of being the type of person who will get addicted to something no matter what, even if it's not weed. I don't really care. Quitting weed 100% was one of the best things I've ever done.

Additionally, legal or not, the product is always there, it's just a matter of whether it's regulated and relatively safe, or not regulated and sold in the black market with impurities and profits the international drug cartels. That said, I think the line to draw is when the drug is so concentrated that a few milligrams can cause a dangerous overdose. That's not the case with weed (excluding concentrates), tobacco or even alcohol.
- aurareturn 2y agoI think weed is easier to get addicted to by a "normal" person than alcohol. I was never really into alcohol. It leaves a nasty feeling in the body. You're literally poisoning your body. Conversely, weed is not as hard on the body. Weed is also significantly cheaper, can be easily grown at home by yourself. Weed also doesn't impair your work life as much as alcohol. You can't work while you're drunk. But you can still do some work while high, albeit, much less effective based on my experience. So weed is easier access. If being addicted to alcohol is a 100 in "bad", then I think weed addiction would be 70. It's not as bad to be addicted to weed. But it's still bad and it's far easier to access (in legal places) in my opinion.
