Show HN: Universal Inbox – Centralize all your notifications in a single place
I have always struggled to keep my todo list filled with everything I have to do from all the tools I'm using daily.
I thus have created Universal Inbox to gather all the notifications of all these tools so that I have a single inbox to empty and I can easily create tasks in my todo list tool.
Moreover, Universal Inbox also keeps track of tasks in these tools (like assigned issues in Linear) and keeps them in sync with my todo list tool too so that I am confident my todo list is up to date.
I’d love to hear your feedback on how useful you find Universal Inbox!
What would be missing for your use case?
- flessner 2y agoI like the idea, but I personally strongly correlate "notifications" with phone notifications so I was a bit confused at first. I think it's too broad-scoped for the current lineup. Isn't really "unified" with 4 tools syncing to Todoist. I could see this being really attractive as a niche tool though - "developer focused" inbox or whatever. I also like that it has a Raycast extension, add Obsidian as a destination and it might be compelling for me to try out :)

I could see this being really attractive as a niche tool though - "developer focused" inbox or whatever. Indeed, this is pretty limited right now with only 4 tools and I focused first on my own use case. Eventually, I will add other tools and probably not only developer oriented tools. > add Obsidian as a destination and it might be compelling for me to try out :) How do you see Obsidian as a destination? Do you manage your todo list in Obsidian? What is you task management workflow?
- flessner 2y agoI am using the "Tasks" Plugin in Obsidian, but just supporting a checklist that appears in a specific location would also be sufficient for me. But Obsidian will probably be quite a difficult destination as it's working locally - in your position I would try and support the hosted tools (Asana, Notion, ...) first as that's probably easier to adapt to your current flows.
