This submission might not last long as it's sure to attract... less intellectually stimulating discussion.
But besides that, it sure is interesting what post-truth is now unleashing on society. Post-truth, post-shame, hyper individualism where everyone can be a winner if you're loud enough.
Is boosting post-truth thinking the hottest current thing in soft power? If I were a non-western nation state looking to destabilize the USA or EU, I'd be grinning in delight at how normal it has become to shout without substance.

If anything, the Internet/Social media gave...let's say...not the sharpest tools in the drawer an unprecedented ability to organize and be the loudest voice. Typically, in order to have an authoritative opinion, you kind of had to show that your way of doing things was better for the community (e.g. building a windmill to grind grains). In the Internet/Social media era, all you have to do to sound credible is be loud and organize with other loud people, and there's no burden of proof required for anything. So you end up with the villagers sacrificing cats and dogs, because the loud minority suggested it, and then their crops and livestock get eaten by rats and wolves respectively. Basically, large, not-smart people have created large groups that advocate for things that just don't fucking work, and there's no feedback loop to prove them wrong, because there are no consequences on the modern Internet.
