Is it an offence to photograph a seahorse?
- codetrotter 2y agoNo. OP misread it. It’s fine to take the photo. It’s posting it to social media that is bad. Because that would encourage others to come look for the seahorse, and they want the seahorses to be left in peace and out of harms way.
- beardyw 2y agoThough phones and modern cameras do store location in exif, so caution is needed publishing it in any way, since a download may contain the exif.
- codetrotter 2y agoYeah. But wouldn’t the places where 99.8% of people would publish their pictures count as social media anyway? Of course, it’s still useful for the remaining 0.2% of us (I’m one of them!) that self-host websites to be careful with the meta data in our photos just as you are rightfully pointing out.
