- acidburnNSA 2y agoI hate this term. It appears to have been invented from thin air by someone at the Nuclear Energy Institute around 2017. Mention of it is always followed by an explanation of what it is. IMHO, a more self-explanatory term, like "medium enriched uranium (MEU)", would be much more useful for everyone.
- danw1979 2y agoWhy does this reactor need a higher percentage of U-235 in the fuel than other fissionable isotopes ? I thought the idea of a fast reactor was that it could fission U-238, Thorium, etc ? i.e. why can’t you feed the Natrium reactor the usual 5% enriched fuel you’d use in an LWR ?
