Ask HN: What happened to Wikipedia's table of contents?
I can't find any news on this change.
Wikipedia has started showing the table of contents as a little hamburger menu popup instead of on the page. As someone who almost always skips to a section first thing, this is _very_ annoying.
Is there some way to pin it open or make it work like it used to?
- The-Old-Hacker 2y ago1. Click the hamburger icon. 2. Next to Main menu, click move to sidebar.
- Kye 2y agoI looked all over for something like that before posting. It's not there for me. It is there in the source. <button class="vector-pinnable-header-toggle-button vector-pinnable-header-pin-button" data-event-name="pinnable-header.vector-main-menu.pin">move to sidebar</button> I just don't see it in the UI. At least...until I returned it to the default zoom level. I like to run at 120%, and it goes away above 110%. It also goes away (along with the pined sidebar) if I press the button and go back to 120%.
- The-Old-Hacker 2y agoThanks for the feedback. I can reproduce this behaviour. The missing elements reappear if I maximise my browser window at zoom levels above 110%. However, they also disappear again at zoom levels 175% and above. Not sure if this is a bug or expected browser behaviour.
