Ask HN: Is Generative AI living up to the hype?
It is relatively early on in the adoption of this technology. What are the current adoption trends? Is Generative AI truly delivering value? I ask because I've come across this recent analysis by Lucidworks, and it's prompted thoughts about whether this wave of AI is living up to the hype. because generative AI is very capital intensive and compute resource intensive.

- nness 2y agoFor the applications I see clients wanting to buy, no. Both the maturity and cost-saving potential of GenAI are greatly over-hyped. From a non-tech business perspective, I expect the interest in GenAI to decline by years end. It's just not materialising the value stakeholders are expecting to see for the exorbitant investment.
