- advisedwang 2y agoThe political class doesn't see domestic quality of life as the goal. Their goal is maintaining or increasing their power, which in this context means being able to dictate terms to other countries and not allowing other countries to dictate terms to them. Technological leadership - and military advantage - do contributed to what rulers really care about.
