Catalonia is richer than the rest of Spain, that is why Catalan elites want the independence, they:
- Have an international airport
- Have an international sea port
- Is next to a richer country (France)
- Is a touristic place
If Catalonia was in the south of Spain, isolated and next to Morocco, things would be very different.

So you just have the right of independence when your the poorest part, but not when your better off and don't want to be dragged down from the rest of the country?
