Lazard LCOE 2024 released [pdf]
- AtlasBarfed 2y agoThe most significant report for the future of power generation (and climate mitigation). By viewing historical Lazard LCOE reports, you can see the dramatic price drop of solar/wind over the last 10-15 years. Recently Lazard has started to list out the combined storage + wind/solar, which for onshore wind is now at parity with combined gas cycle, and solar+storage is catching up. Solar/Wind has actually increased slightly in cost this year, which may be due to tariffs or simply extremely high demand. IMO this is a temporary blip long-term, especially since sodium ion batteries for storage are building into mass production, and at some point perovskites will revolutionize solar panel prices as well.
