Why is this not funded from DuPont fines?
- ninininino 2y agoBecause we live in an incredibly corrupt Kleptocracy.
- blackeyeblitzar 2y agoBecause no one is fined or held accountable for these types of crimes. Union Carbide (now owned by Dow Chemicals) got barely a slap on the wrist for the literal worst industrial disaster of all time. Something like forever chemical pollution isn’t even a blip on the radar of politicians: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhopal_disaster https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhopal_disaster
- ratg13 2y ago3M is worse than DuPont In fact, DuPont gets their forever chemicals from 3M 3M has known for decades that their chemicals were toxic to humans and also getting into people’s bloodstreams, and once they figured this out, they hid all of their knowledge and increased the output. https://www.propublica.org/article/3m-forever-chemicals-pfas-pfos-inside-story https://www.propublica.org/article/3m-forever-chemicals-pfas...
- darth_avocado 2y agoBecause if DuPont actually is fined for what it has done, it will be bankrupt. And our political machinery (and therefore justice system) is too afraid of letting companies fail because of the harms they have caused.
