You have to contextualize it with the historical background.
The Cold War was ongoing and there was an arms race in research occurring between the Soviet Union and the United States with regards to directed energy weapons and influence/control of the mind.
- imglorp 2y agoUltimately, the mind control vision came true far beyond those cold warriors' dreams. The answer wasn't chemical or subliminal or mind-ray like they thought, but tailored, addictive, adrenaline jolts of a/b tested, emotional, persusive jolts, infinitely scrolled in a social proof setting. And the victims seek it out, you don't have to force it on them.
- lawrenceyan 2y agoI think you would be surprised as to how far the research has gotten. But I get what you mean with social media / the modern internet. Probably the most direct way you can get without actual modulation of neurons.
