Will Tesla Do a Phone? Yes, Says Morgan Stanley
- TheAceOfHearts 2y agoWhy would you want to tie the car and phone together? Does that mean I have to upgrade my car every few years to keep up with increasing hardware requirements? Wouldn't it be better to have a computer at home? > From our continuing discussions with automotive management teams and industry experts, the car is an extension of the phone. The phone is an extension of the car. The lines between car and phone are truly blurring. This quote is really something... It's not entirely wrong though, both definitely want to track everything you do in order to sell your data to anyone with a pulse. But let's be realistic, if Elon decides to make a new smartphone there's no shot that he'll build an OS from scratch vs making a shitty android fork. I really hope he tries though, having more competition in the smartphone space might force companies to start innovating once more.
- scblock 2y agoWhat a terrible idea. Can you say "Amazon Fire Phone"?

- TheAlchemist 2y agoThis is beyond stupid. This is the same analyst, that quite recently valued Tesla Dojo at $500B, just when Musk was hyping it. Billions, not millions. Given the aligned interests of MS and Tesla, I really wonder how legal all this stuff is. Departments are supposed to be independent of course, but given the money at stake (MS is main Tesla / Musk banker) and the absolute bullshit hype coming from this analyst, I have a lot of doubts.
- slimebot80 2y agoI really love the gusto from Elon around this. Jumps right in criticizing Apple Int while clearly demonstrating he didn't listen or read anything at any detail. Or, more likely, he's fueled by jealousy towards Sam. So if this drives him to be over confident towards building a phone ... that's funny.
