All the recent attempts to monetize SQLite seem wrong to me, since its very core is about how to handle data without any third parties, embeded in your app and mostly on local storage. Any cloud offering feels to me like offering a custom STL as a SaaS: if you're going over the network, why not use a database designed for this? The only usecase I can see would be something like mini-DBs in an S3, which again would just be a library to abstract away.
