- blinded 2y agoIm probably in the minority here. I run my dishwasher maybe 3 times a year. I hand wash everything after meals, use a nice dish drying rack, disinfect or replace sponges frequently. Never liked dish washers, every time you need something its in the dish washer.

- f1refly 2y agoMost dishwashers can be programmed to operate on half loads, making them viable even for single house holds
- bdavbdav 2y agoWhy is it getting left in the dishwasher? Surely set it to half load&fast and stick it on overnight.
- timonoko 2y agoI dont have much dishes, because I eat my gruel directly from the pot. But €150 dishwasher was the greatest investment lately. Finally all tools, shoes and bicycle parts could be freed from the eternal grease and grime.

- NavinF 2y agoNot that uncommon. I wash PC cables, PCBs, tools, microscope slides, lenses, all sorts of things in the dishwasher. I also keep an ultrasonic cleaner on my desk for small things, but I can't be in the same room when it's on because it's too loud. Until I build an enclosure for it, the dishwasher will be my main cleaning tool.

You really need a think enclosure tho. Every maker youtuber has a thick box around their ultrasonic cleaner (Eg https://youtu.be/qT62D-sWNE4?si=v-zub1ke9uriCGvZ&t=674 https://youtu.be/qT62D-sWNE4?si=v-zub1ke9uriCGvZ&t=674) and I never realized why until I heard the ear-piercing shriek of this thing.

- anthony100 2y agoDishwasher: An Energy Star-certified dishwasher can use as little as 3 gallons of water per load, while hand washing can use up to 27 gallons. Some say that dishwashers are four to ten times more water efficient than hand washing. Newer dishwashers also heat water more efficiently than water heaters and can handle food scraps.
