Maybe the reason that there is no policy at the conference is that harassment doesn't happen as often as its portrayed?
Going to a bar and then being hit on is hardly the end of the world. Its one thing to respect office/professional decorum, its another to start setting rules where men can only speak when spoken to.
- theorique 14y agoDid you read the blog post? The guy was rebuffed multiple times and turned up his verbal offensiveness each time, finishing off by describing his daughter as a slut. Discouraging men from speaking this way - in a professional community - to women who are their peers, is hardly equivalent to "setting rules where men can only speak when spoken to". Hitting on woman = fine. Turning up the verbal heat when she's already turned you down = obnoxious.
