China's next invasion (if such a thing happened) would be to annex the northern part of the Philippines - although alternatively they could just continue building up military bases along the coral reefs in the disputed seas. So long as they ensure that Vietnam always aligns with them politically, their dominance over the South China Sea would then be complete. South Korea is already held in check by North Korea, and Japan is largely a non-issue for now, being weak enough that China could just take over and build up military bases in the southernmost islands. Everyone's chomping at the bit for the end of the current world order based around the sanctity of borders, and the beginning of a new (old) imperialistic one.
