They did a lot of work for this release, and the number of integrations is beyond what I expected. In a few years time you might not need to hold your phone at all and just get everything done with voice - kind of cool, actually.
Auto transcripts for calls (with permission) is another feature I really liked.
I was a little surprised to see/hear no mention of inaccuracies, but for ChatGPT they did show the "Check for important facts" notice.
- culopatin 2y agoThat sounds like what Humane is trying to do. But I would honestly hate to do everything by voice and have everyone around me know what I’m doing and hear everyone around me talk to their phones all the time. Sounds like a nightmare
- realfeel78 2y ago> That sounds like what Humane is trying to do. The only thing Humane was trying to do was scam their investors. Let us never speak of them again.
- Tagbert 2y agoI would expect it to be situational. I also was happy to see that they introduced a typed interface to Siri so you can do this without speaking.
- amne 2y agoSo far the only reasonable place I can think of where I could find myself actually using voice to control anything is on the toilet. that's it
- runeb 2y agoWalking, cycling, running, driving, relaxing on the couch
- amne 2y agoThis is a large numbers problem that is not yet visible. You can't have everybody walking and talking. There would be too much noise (think crickets, cicadas, toads, etc.) I'm not going into cycling/running and talking .. that's just not how things work when you need to breathe. Driving and talking to a phone to then have it recite back to you 10 minutes of details you can just glance at but would be dangerous to? If I'm relaxing on a couch .. i'm using a device. And please don't come back with "play me a chill song" as a fancy use case. What I'm trying to say is that voice is not it and the only other kind of interaction I'm looking forward to see evolve is neuralink-style. In the sense that it needs to be wireless / non-invasive for mass adoption. That's it.
- Tagbert 2y agoThere is a lot less fodder for inaccuracies if the data and processing are all on your device. A lot of the inaccuracies in Gemini and ChatGPT arise because they are using the web for answers and that is a much less reliable source than your own emails and messages.
